University Honors Student Association
What is UHSA? PDF Print E-mail

The goal of the University Honors Student Association is to develop a higher level of academic, social, and community oriented thinking among Honors students through informational, social, and service events.

The Association’s purpose is based on the belief that in addition to academic excellence, Honors students should be actively engaged in both other academic departments at the University and with their community outside of the classroom. UHSA strives to offer Honors students activities and programs that focus on Professional Development, Community Service, Social Development, and Academic Enrichment by creating service events, informational events, and fun social events to bring people in the UHP together!

UHSA also serves as a liaison between Honors students and the University Honors Program faculty and staff.

Welcome to UHSA! PDF Print E-mail

All Honors students belong to the University Honors Student Association (UHSA). The UHSA Board has members representing many colleges, and they plan events catered to all, as well. UHSA coordinates activities and events throughout the school year based on the interests of the current stduents.

Some of the things Honors students have done in recent years include:

  • volunteering at People Serving People
  • hosting a Welcome Week picnic at Middlebrook Hall
  • UROP and CESP informational events
  • GopherWay Trick o' Treating
  • bowling, lazer tag, and more!
The 2nd Annual Honors Spring Formal is coming up this April, too!

Upcoming Events

Newsflash

All honors students are invited to get involved with UHSA by joining a committee.  Please email uhsa@umn.edu for more information or to join a committee.  There are three main committees to choose from:

Academic Affairs: The Academic Affairs committee creates events that have more to do with academic enrichment. This year they have put on a Milk and Cookies Meet and Greet that brought Honors professors and students together in a relaxed environment to talk and get to know one another. They work on making the space between students and the Honors professors smaller and to lessen the stress of school work with fun events that can still apply to school!

Community Service: The Volunteer committee finds worthwhile volunteer opportunities that can make a difference to our community and the lives of all involved. They find organizations to work with, set up dates, and participate in all of the events. People Serving People has been a reoccurring volunteer opportunity this year. (The next date is on Sunday, January 31 from 12:45-3:15 and sign up is on a first come basis)

Social Affairs: The Social Affairs committee plans and executes social events for Honors students. So far this year they have organized the Welcome Picnic at MBH, the Ice Cream Social at MBH. For events like these, they have to buy food, utensils, reserve the space, find a date that works with other events that may be going on in campus, etc.
